where is clemson university located?
clemson university is located in upstate south carolina, the state’s fastest-growing region. campus is nestled on 1,400 acres in the foothills of the blue ridge mountains, along the shores of lake hartwell. clemson is about 40 minutes from greenville, named one of america’s best downtowns by forbes. other metropolitan hubs — including atlanta, charlotte, and asheville, north carolina — are just a few hours’ drive away.
how is the weather in upstate south carolina?
clemson has mild, short winters and long, warm summers. we experience all four seasons. with the lake and mountains nearby, summers are best enjoyed outside. in the winter, we have an occasional snowfall.
how much are tuition and fees to attend clemson?
tuition, fees and room and board run about $27,600 for in-state students and $49,000 for out-of-state students. visit our tuition webpage for a more specific breakdown.
what are the incoming students’ average sat and act scores?
for the sat, the middle 50 percent of admitted students have test scores ranging from 1230 to 1390. for the act, the middle 50 percent score range is 27 to 32 for the composite.
how many students attend clemson?
we have more than 19,000 undergraduate and 5,200 graduate and professional students. sixty-six percent of undergraduates are from south carolina, 33 percent come from other u.s. states and territories and 1 percent are from other countries.

how much is the application fee?
the application fee is $70 and is non-refundable.
what are the application deadlines?
to ensure notification in mid-february for summer/fall admission, you must apply by december 1 and submit test scores, transcripts and supporting documents by mid-january. to receive priority consideration for an academic recruiting scholarship, you must submit test scores, transcripts and supporting documents by december 31.
once i’ve applied to clemson, how can i find out my application’s status?
once clemson has received your completed application, you will receive your clemson university id (cuid). this id number should be used in all correspondence with the university throughout the admissions process.
at this time, we do not have an online status check, but incoming first-year students who apply by december 1 will receive an admission decision by mid-february. incoming first-year students who apply after december 1 may receive a decision by mid-february or soon after, depending on the application submission date.
all transfer applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

can i visit campus?
we would love to show you our campus. student-led tours are available throughout the year, and special tours can be scheduled through the visitors center. information about tours can be found on our visit webpage.
i’ve been accepted to clemson. how do i sign up for classes and get involved on campus?
each summer, we hold a series of new student orientation sessions for entering first-year students, transfer students and their families. orientation offers the opportunity to register for classes and meet with your academic advisor. visit the orientation webpage for dates and times and to register. an orientation session is also held in january for those students beginning their clemson experience spring semester.
once you’re on campus, the annual student organization fair, tigerprowl, will give you a chance to meet fellow students and get involved in more than 500 campus clubs and organizations. if you want to research before then, visit tigerquest for a list of student organizations.
i want to live on campus. what are the residence halls like?
all first-year students are required to live on campus. options include suite-style living in the center of campus, traditional high-rises on the bryan mall and the new douthit hills east neighborhood. please visit the university housing & dining webpage for more information, and be sure to check out our 19 nationally recognized living-learning communities, which offer an even more enriching residential experience.
what is campus like?
campus is beautiful and inviting. tree-lined streets and walkways welcome students to campus each day of the year. many students spend hours studying, lounging and playing on bowman field, which connects campus to downtown clemson.
i’m interested in athletics. where can i find this information?
students have the opportunity to participate in 34 club sports and 17 intramural sports. as a member of the athletic coast conference, clemson boasts 19 ncaa athletic teams, including football, basketball, baseball, track and field, golf, volleyball, tennis soccer and softball. admission to regular-season, on-campus sporting events is included in university fees for full-time students.
where do i find information about greek life on campus?
visit our fraternity and sorority life webpage. about 24 percent of undergraduates participate in greek life across 28 fraternities and 18 sororities.
are there arts on campus?
there are numerous opportunities for students to attend events or get involved with the arts on campus. the brooks center for the performing arts offers a variety of performances year round, and the lee gallery showcases student and professional artists. students can also get involved with numerous music, theater and dance ensembles.

does clemson offer early decision applications?
clemson doesn’t have an early-decision policy, but students who apply before december 1 will be notified of their admission decision in mid-february. any students who apply after december 1 may receive notification by mid-february or soon after.
i’m thinking about transferring to clemson. what do i have to do, and how do i determine how many of my class credits will transfer?

can i appeal?
any student has the right to appeal an admissions decision. the undergraduate admissions committee reviews all appeals.
what do i do with my transcript?

who determines my in-state residency?
incoming first-year students should contact the office of residency classification regarding residency status. they assist continuing undergraduate and graduate students with applying for entitlement to pay in-state tuition and fees.
